For those of you who like the summary version - Bess is out of her operation, and is recovering well. She spent most of today sleeping, but was quite wide awake by this evening, and feeling restless enought to want to start wandering around. Praise God! I'm very glad that he has once again shown his love and mercy to me and my family.
But I thought I'd give you a quick run down of the day... if you care to read this far (and if you do... comment! It's good to know I don't just write for nothing!) 3:15am - Andrew roles over in bed, scared about what the time might be. Looks at Bess' phone. It's 3:15am. Can go back to sleep 4:00am - Andrew roles over in bed, scared about what the time might be... 5:15am - ditto 5:30am - Andrew notices a light on outside our bedroom. Carol must be up. That must mean it's close to getting up time. Andrew lays in bed, not sleeping 5:45am - Andrew hears the phone ring. Carol is ringing to tell him to get up. Andrew gets up to answer the phone, not knowing that, meanwhile Bess continues to lie in bed 5:50am - 10 minutes till we are supposed to leave, Bess' alarm has gone off, she has moved in the bed and protests that she is getting up... slowly 6:15am - In the car, on our way to North Shore Private 6:50am - We make it there
7:30am - We are in Bess' room 8:00am - They take her down to theatre. Bess is quite anxious, but Lachy is on orderlies and looks after her 8:19am - The operation starts 9:11am - The operation is over, Bess is asleep in recovery 10:00am - Lachy comes up and tells us that she is awake, and she'll be up in about 10 minutes 10:10am - Bess is up :-) ... and the rest is just a boring day in hospital. Apparently the operation went a bit quicker that they had expected, and there were no complicating factors. Her voice has all but returned to it's normal self, and aside from being a bit thirsty and not really wanting to be at hospital any more, all is going well. She should be home tomorrow morning. I'm planning to go in and see her. I do miss her... a lot. And I'm so thankful all is well. |
