Have you ever noticed that after a day of long, hard meetings all you want to do is go home, and not have any more? Have you ever noticed that the more meetings you attend in a day, the worse you feel? Do you ever feel like you spend your entire day in meetings and not get anything done? I know I have.
Some researchers in the UK observed this phenomena and decided that they would investigate two hypothesis regarding meetings and work: - The more meetings one has to attend, the greater the negative effects; and
- The more time one spends in meetings the greater the negative effects
Apparently their hypothesis proved true in their study. This poses some interesting questions for the presbyterian church, our work places and uni groups. How can we collaborate together and hold meetings but reduce the negative effects observed? |
